Pink Moon in GITMO
One day, while Googling a stray image for an art theme, I found her—or perhaps she found me. She spoke without sound, insisting on becoming more than reference: a vessel for unspent anger and inherited grief. Born into a lifetime shadowed by military occupation, she carries history in her silence. This collage answers her command. Her gaze is fixed upward, eyes wide and aching, summoning the moon as confidant and balm. Lunar light becomes a quiet resistance, a witness when words fail. Frustration simmers beneath the surface, but sorrow is what lingers—deep, tidal, and unresolved. The piece drifts between protest and prayer, transforming a chance encounter into an act of listening, where personal vision and collective memory merge under the moon’s unblinking watch.
