The mixed-media inspiration for this piece was Pepe Lepew’s Natal Chart. It features a captivating portrayal of a Capricorn, represented by a majestic mountain goat with striking horns, set against a bold zebra-striped background in a stark transparent hive. The goat is rendered in warm shades of charcoal and white, highlighting its strength and resilience. Its textured fur blends harmoniously with stylized, abstract mushrooms that emerge from consciousness.
These mushrooms, painted in soft browns and creams, evoke a sense of grounding and connection to the earth, reflecting Capricorn’s nature. Surrounding the goat are subtle patterns inspired by African textiles, weaving a narrative of cultural richness and nature.
